Adil is married to Dr. Sarwat Jafry, a career educationist at Saint John's School in Houston, Texas. A former investment banker turned entrepreneur, Adil was inspired by the prospects of commercial space and lunar exploration to participate in the Google Lunar X Prize competition in 2008. This led him to pursue his Masters degree in Space Studies at the International Space University (ISU) in Strasbourg, France, including graduate work at the NASA Ames Research Center. Adil's current venture, Chandah, is focused on designing and building a constellation of small satellites for space situation awareness, making it the first commercial space technology firm of its kind in the United States. Adil serves on National Oceanic And Atmospherics Administration’s (NOAA) Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES), on the academic council of his alma mater, the International Space University, and on the Small Satellite Technology Subcommittee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Prior to Chandah, Adil helped co-found Tara Energy, a deregulated energy marketing firm in Texas with his brother and friends, all of whom attended the University of Texas at Austin. Adil and his family are ardent supporters of the Aga Khan Development Network, TEDxSugarLand and the Houston MakerFaire, all initiatives aspiring to create a grass roots level awareness and support for innovative models in community development, humanities, arts, education, and sciences. Adil is also a proud member of the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations (HCFR).
